Do you have anxiety when you want to make choices?
As I have written in my earlier articles I think many of us live in countries where the possibilities to choose have become huge. It can be about everything from what coffee to choose, what tv channels to watch to different dating agencies. If you have too many options to choos between, it can stress your brain and lead to anxiety for many people.
Research has shown that when the possibilities to choose pass a lmit, it can affect your abolity to experience happiness in a negative way. First of all, the possibilities to choose can make you sweat long before you have made the choice since you can be afraid of making the wrong choice. Once you have made the choice you might have the problem of critisizing yourself for having made the wrong choice.
Research also shows that it is stressful for the brain to make too many decisions. It drains your energy at it effects you ability and efficiency in a negative way.
The researcher Barry Schwartz, author of the book ”The paradox of choice: why more is less” writes that it is good for you to have alternatives to cohoose between to a certain limit, after that there is an increase of negative consequences and after a while you start making bad decisions, you become more and more dissatisfied with the decisions you make or you feel so overwhelmed that you don´t make any decisions at all.
